Role summary Reporting to the Group Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Compliance Advisor will work with the Health and Safety team to ensure that the group complies with all relevant health and safety legislation and help maintain health and safety management systems. The Health and Safety Compliance Advisor will be primarily responsible for maintaining health and safety compliance standards at Shepperton Studios, managing contractors and supporting the wider Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance Department as required. Where necessary, and as appropriate, the job holder will refer or escalate matters to the Group Health and Safety Manager. This role is based within Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance department and works closely with other compliance roles, including sustainability. The role is based at the Shepperton Studios site. However, the job holder may be required to work from the Pinewood site from time to time as required by the Health and Safety Manager. Principle accountabilities Manage and maintain the current compliance database and schedule of works in line with regulatory and statutory compliance. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of water hygiene and legionella systems, stage lifting equipment (LOLER), general work equipment (PUWER), air handling systems (HVAC), workshop extraction systems (LEV) and pressure vessels. Organise compliance surveys, inspections and physical testing of various aspects of the group assets, including first aid equipment. Promote excellent health and safety standards by supporting employees, tenants and productions with their collective and specific health and safety compliance needs Remain up to date with relevant cases and changes in health and safety legislation Manage multiple contractor’s activities onsite in line with studio requirements. Review contractor RAMS and issue corresponding permits. Work closely with the several departments to ensure remedial works are completed in line with relevant H&S legislation. Assist with the progressive development and maintenance of the H&S management system, asset list and risk register. Generate department performance data to be presented to senior management.. Undertake a daily site walkaround and log remedial jobs with internal or external teams as required. Support in the preparation of documentation for company internal and external audits. Assist with the communication of health and safety policies and procedures and encourage a proactive approach to health and safety within a supportive environment. Provide on-site cover for the wider Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance Department as required. Nature and Scope The Health and Safety Compliance Advisor role will primarily be responsible for helping the group to meet its health and safety obligations by supporting the Group Health and Safety Manager and wider HSFC Team. The job holder will be assigned workload by the Group Health and Safety Manager and will work through a mixture of projects, specific initiatives and day-to-day activities that will contribute to the overall compliance of the organisation. Many of the compliance inspections and surveys occur on a rolling basis throughout the year, i.e. scheduled as per the regulation specifications. As such, an in-depth technical knowledge of these systems is not required however a sufficient understanding of the statutory requirements is needed to be able to manage the contractors. This role works within a complex environment made up of numerous internal and external stakeholders. The job holder must be able to effectively communicate and prioritise demands based on risk and business priorities and in consultation with the Group Health and Safety Manager. Skills And Experience Essential criteria NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Member of IOSH, IIRSM or other relevant membership Working in a hybrid on-site and office role Management of contractors Maintenance of routine compliance inspections Specialist knowledge of health and safety legislation including codes of practice, theoretical knowledge and relevant working experience Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Excellent communication skills Excellent organisational skills Calm under pressure Demonstrates discretion when dealing with high profile or confidential information Maintains awareness of relevant legislation and updates Able to work autonomously and within a team The role holder will be required to be onsite 5 days per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm at Shepperton Studios. Desirable criteria Proactively maintains CPD portfolio Experience of asbestos management Experience in film, TV and media industry Experience of conducting risk assessments Active listening Inquisitive mindset Other information Role location: Shepperton Studios with some travel to Pinewood Studios and the option to work circa 1 day a week from home.
