Saint Catherine’s is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team, providing vital support to patients and families across our hospice services. This is a key leadership role with both clinical and strategic responsibilities. About the Role As our Senior Social Worker, you will: Lead and manage a small team of Social Workers, offering supervision, mentorship, and professional development support. Promote excellence in social work practice, delivering high-quality, holistic support to patients and families facing life-limiting illness and bereavement. Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing to patient-centred care planning and ethical decision-making. Provide education and training both within the hospice and externally, supporting the development of best practices in palliative and end-of-life social care. Serve as the Organisational Lead for Safeguarding Adults and Children, ensuring robust safeguarding policies and practices across the organisation. Act as the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Lead, supporting staff through guidance, education, supervision, audits, and service development. Lead on quality improvement initiatives, audits, and the development of policies to enhance our psychosocial and safeguarding services. What We’re Looking For Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England. Substantial post-qualification experience, ideally in palliative care, healthcare, or complex adult/children’s services. Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience. In-depth understanding of the MCA, DoLS, and safeguarding legislation and best practice. Passionate about delivering person-centred care and working collaboratively across teams. Strong commitment to our EPIC Values – Excellence, Person-Centred, Integrity, and Collaboration. Hold a degree within Social Work and be registered with Social Work England. Have previous experience of working with health care issues. Be empathetic and sensitive in your verbal and written communication.
