We’re supporting our client, a global, leading plastics manufacturer based in Christchurch, who are looking for a Moulding Technician to join their growing team. The successful Moulding Technician will have previous experience as a mould setter or injection moulding technician.
Job Summary: As a Moulding Technician, you will be responsible for setting, maintaining, and optimizing moulds and injection moulding processes to meet production schedules and quality standards. The technician ensures all processes are performed efficiently and in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities for Moulding Technician:
* Perform mould setups and changeovers based on production schedules.
* Operate and inspect overhead cranes and complete crane checklists as required.
* Maintain organization and cleanliness of the mould vault.
* Ensure moulds and machines are prepared, maintained, and stored appropriately.
* Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues during production runs.
* Optimize injection moulding processes for quality and efficiency.
* Assist in monitoring production quality and ensure conformity to specifications.
* Capture and report all process-related data and machine downtime accurately.
* Support production targets and schedules, including component changes, setups, startups, and cleanings.
* Demonstrate strong understanding of various materials including Polycarbonate, ABS, and Polypropylene.
* Use processing and moulding analytical tools to support production performance.
* Program and maintain robots (e.g., Staubli, Yushin, Sepro, Haan, Campetella) where applicable.
* Support Medical IQ/OQ/PQ validations as needed.
* Work closely with Production Managers, Shift Leaders, Quality Engineers, Technical Department and Operators to ensure seamless operations.
* Ensure compliance with GMP, QMS, safety regulations, and company policies.
* Report issues or concerns to the Supervisor promptly.
* Contribute to continuous improvement and special projects (e.g., process validation, NPI).
About You:
* Technical training (IMM level 3 or equivalent) preferred.
* Minimum 2 years of experience as a mould setter or injection moulding technician.
* Demonstrated understanding of injection moulding operations and processing.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
* Willingness to work occasional overtime or weekends.
