Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our general medicine team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role supports inpatient care, attends outpatient clinics, and participates in the general medicine on‑call rota. The post holder will work predominantly on general medical wards, providing direct care to patients, supervising junior colleagues, and contributing to teaching.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical service in conjunction with colleagues under the direction of the Lead Consultant on the ward.
* Support the care of inpatients in general medical wards.
* Attend outpatient clinics as required and facilitate specialist review requests from other subspecialties.
* Participate in the acute on‑call rota, covering either the acute assessment area or the wards on a rotational basis.
* Serve as a deputy for absent colleagues and perform additional duties when necessary to ensure safe running of the department and hospital.
* Provide advice to clinicians in hospital and primary care, originating from telephone calls or ward referrals.
* Contribute to protected teaching time and medical education.
Qualifications
* ST3 or above level doctor with passion for excellent patient care.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work in a busy acute learning environment.
* Commitment to maintaining competency and supporting progression via the portfolio pathway.
