Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor
Production Engineering Section
A permanent vacancy has arisen within our client's Production Engineering Section for a Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor.
The successful candidate's main focus will be to provide expert environmental and technical advice to ensure that our client's site complies with all applicable environmental regulations and to lead, drive, and support business operating improvements to achieve their objectives in the drive to Net Zero. This includes identifying key areas for business improvements to reduce carbon footprint and overheads, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting upgrade/replacement of plant equipment and services.
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Benefits
Hours of work: 7am - 4pm (Monday - Thursday), 7am - 12pm Fridays
Main duties include:
* Ensuring all aspects of Environmental, Safety, and Quality are documented and integrated into processes.
* Liaising with Environmental Associations and regulatory agencies regarding changes in legislation affecting design and manufacturing.
* Supporting understanding and implementation of EU/UK directives.
* Providing technical expertise on relevant directives.
* Assisting operations management in compliance matters and investigations.
* Advising on product and process design issues.
* Conducting environmental investigations and waste programs.
* Coordinating site inspections.
* Providing compliance support, plans, and reports.
* Managing handling of hazardous materials in accordance with standards.
* Supporting ISO14001 and other standards.
* Managing energy schemes like ESOS and SECR.
* Investigating government grants and initiatives.
* Maintaining permits and operating procedures.
* Supporting the company's Net Zero journey.
* Interpreting data on water, waste, energy, and refrigerants.
* Serving as point of contact for energy supply brokers.
Preferred skills, knowledge, and experience:
* 5+ years of environment or compliance experience preferred.
* Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Excellent communication and meeting skills.
* Knowledge of ISO14001 with auditing experience.
