Security Officers will work across both the Ulster Museum and National Museum NI Stores as required. The post holder will be required to work on a shift pattern which consists of both day and night shifts. When on shift, Security Officers will work alongside a Security colleague, and occasionally as a lone worker.The post holder will work a minimum of 800 hours per annum to cover backfill for security teams at our Off-site stores in Belfast and the Ulster Museum.Our security shift pattern is 07:00 to 19:00hrs days and 19:00 to 07:00 hrs nights at The Ulster Museum and 06:30 to 18:30 days and 18:30 to 06:30hrs nights at off-site stores. Security operates 24/7 therefore a variety of shifts could be offered to cover day shift, night shift, weekend, bank or public holiday and to work events across any of the National Museums NI sites when required.Due to the nature of the contract, shifts will be offered on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year.800 hours equates to approximately 6 shifts per month. However, the actual shifts to be worked will be allocated as and when required throughout the year, meaning some months you may work more than 6 shifts and some months may be less.
Responsibilities
* Security staff are expected to be responsible when working under minimal supervision, and should be capable of dealing with emergencies using their own initiative, as well as according to site security procedures.
* It is essential that our Security Officers can identify risks to Museum staff, visitors, and collections, and act in a timely manner to ensure that any danger is dealt with appropriately.

Skills and Qualifications
* A minimum of 2 GCSE’s at Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) AND 2 years’ experience working in an operational security role or in the commercial security sector
* OR 3 years’ experience in a museum, art gallery, or heritage building security environment.
* Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of security and health and safety issues in secure storage environments including security procedures and best practice.
* To be proficient in the use of IT tools and computer programmes such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
