The role

As a paralegal, you will work with the Head of Knowledge and the Library and Information Services Manager to support the implementation of the firm’s knowledge strategy. You will assist with the curation of content for the firm’s knowledge hub and serve as a point of contact on knowledge matters, respond to enquiries and requests for support.

In order to develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, and to ensure success in the role, we envisage regular presence in our London office.

Principal Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

The principal responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:


* Assisting with the collection of knowledge materials created by fee-earners including identifying useful materials and following up on know-how after hearings and on matter completion and following client meetings.
* Assisting with the synthesis of know-how into structured and easily accessible internal resources.
* Curating content on the firm’s knowledge hub, including classifying, tagging and uploading relevant content.
* Assisting with knowledge projects including undertaking business analysis, tracking cases and the implementation of knowledge tools/initiatives.
* Assisting with the maintenance and development of precedent and other standard form documents.
* Assisting fee-earners with knowledge queries and providing guidance on how to access resources.
* Co-ordinating knowledge activities to ensure relevant knowledge is shared and easily available across the firm’s practice groups.
* Encouraging knowledge sharing and working with fee-earners to support the collection of knowledge.
* Tracking cases and assisting with the provision of timely updates on legal and market developments including preparing summaries of key developments.
* Undertaking research for the knowledge team.
* Monitoring and proactively updating the firm’s Knowledge Hub.

Skills And Experience We’re Looking For

* Strong academic qualifications including a degree or post-graduate diploma in law, or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of IP law and practice would be an advantage.
* High level of attention to detail.
* Good communication skills, both written and oral.
* Able to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
* A team player who is confident interacting with fee-earners and others of all levels across the firm.
* Strong IT skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new IT systems quickly.
* Knowledge of SharePoint would be an advantage.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work pro-actively where appropriate.
* Reliable and flexible with the ability to pick up new legal concepts quickly.

The recruitment process

Typically, there will be one stage consisting of the following:

* Interview with Katie Gordon (Head of Knowledge) and Gillian Davison (Recruitment Manager) with two written exercises (no pre-work required)

If successful at interview stage, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Hilary Smith (Library & Information Services Manager) for an informal conversation.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive benefits package that currently includes the following:

* 25 days’ holiday, increasing by 1 day per year up to our maximum of 28 days.
