Job Specification – Chocolatier

Location: Bruton, Somerset

Salary: £13.00–£15.00 per hour (depending on experience and progression tier)

Contract: Temporary-to-Permanent (starting immediately)

Reports To: Factory Manager

We are a small, friendly, and growing chocolate company with a passion for producing exceptional products for some of the UK's most prestigious retailers. We are looking for an enthusiastic Chocolatier with high attention to detail and a genuine eagerness to learn and develop their skills.

Role Summary

This is a hands-on production role working closely with our Factory Manager and wider production team. The role is offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, starting immediately, with a view to becoming a permanent member of the team after a successful initial period.

Tiered Progression Pathway

Tier 1 – Chocolatier

Pay: £13 per hour

Qualifications: Level 2 Food Safety

Core Responsibilities:

* Produce caramels, ganaches, florentines, Easter eggs, and spun products
* Hand-deposit caramels and ganaches
* Table temper chocolate when required
* Operate One-Shot depositor for bar production
* Carry out panning and nut caramelisation
* Operate the cluster machine
* Produce NPD (new product development) samples as requested by the Factory Manager
* Strip, clean, and rebuild production machinery

Tier 2 – Senior Chocolatier

Pay: £14 per hour

Qualifications: Level 3 Food Safety

Additional Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoot production issues and maintain product quality
* Operate One-Shot depositor for truffle and caramel production
* Order ingredients and materials for production
* Supervise and manage production in the absence of the Factory Manager

Tier 3 – Lead Chocolatier

Pay: £15 per hour

Qualifications: HACCP Trained, Health & Safety Trained, First Aid Certified

Additional Responsibilities:

* Set up and configure new products on the One-Shot depositor
* Lead and manage all customer NPD projects from concept through to production
* Oversee compliance with food safety, HACCP, and health and safety requirements
