Mechanical Fitter
Monday - Friday: Rotating AM and PM Shifts - 6.00am - 2.00pm and 2.00pm - 10.00pm
Salary: Competitive – Dependent on experience and qualifications - £40,850 - £43,000 inclusive of a 7.5% shift allowance
People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our well-established client based in Wolverhampton on a full-time permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a skilled Engineering team working within a bespoke and complex environment, focused on the Engineering process plant and equipment sector.

Day-to-Day Duties
You will be responsible for:
Fitting, assembly, installation, and stripping of mechanical components
Using hand and power tools to precise tolerances
Producing low-volume or bespoke machined components to drawing specification
Working with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and instrumentation
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and route cards
Collaborating with departments including Quality, Design, HSE, and Inspection teams
Operating lathes, millers, borers, and drills
Recording work, reporting non-conformities, and updating documentation
Working safely under relevant risk assessments, permits, and procedures
Identifying and raising non-conformance reports (NCRs)
Inputting data (e.g., time sheets, orders, emails) via internal computer systems
Essential Skills
Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 or similar)
Excellent attention to detail and quality-focused
Experience with micrometres, verniers, and measuring tools
Confident interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
Slinging/signalling and lifting experience
Able to follow Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), Risk Assessments and Method Statements
SC (Security Clearance) eligibility
Desirable Skills
Additional certifications such as:
MEWP / PASMA / Harness use
Forklift / Scissor Lift operation
Spark erosion
Scaffold inspection
Lifting Supervisor or Appointed Person
5S / Lean Manufacturing awareness
Training
Ongoing in-house and external training provided to support personal development, and safety compliance, and skill advancement in a bespoke engineering environment
