About the Position

Our client requires a Process Chemist to join a Technical and Innovation team. The role is suited for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in chemical manufacturing and process development. Reporting to the Technical and Innovation Manager, you will collaborate with departments including Production, Engineering, Quality, and R&D to optimize processes and support new product introduction.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist in process improvement initiatives with the Production department.
* Participate in Process Improvement Groups and utilize the Britest Toolkit for decision-making.
* Conduct laboratory experiments to support process changes.
* Support the implementation of process changes, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
* Analyze production data to drive continuous improvement.
* Troubleshoot production issues such as deviations or yield losses under supervision.
* Assist in scaling up new products from lab or pilot to full production.
* Maintain accurate records of process changes and procedures.
* Promote safe working practices and good housekeeping.
* Receive training and development opportunities, including process safety assessments and customer communication as your experience grows.
Candidate Requirements
* BSc or equivalent in Chemistry or related field.
* Interest in chemical manufacturing and process development.
* Understanding of chemical principles and reaction mechanisms.
* Problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and in a team.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and chemical drawing software.
* Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work on a COMAH site and pass an enhanced DBS check.
Desired Skills and Experience
* MSc or MChem in a relevant discipline.
* Industrial placement or lab experience.
* Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or Britest methodologies.
* Understanding of process safety and regulatory compliance.
* Familiarity with control systems and data analysis tools.
* Interest in professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Chemist).
