Overview
Are you looking to apply for Cardiology Specialty Training in 2026/27 but not completed IMT? Do you need to show equivalence of IMT training whilst increasing your cardiology exposure, maximising your ability to show commitment to specialty and bolster your CV? Join the Cardiology team in Pembrokeshire at Withybush General Hospital as a general medicine and cardiology registrar.
Applicants are invited to apply for a Specialty Doctor post in General Medicine based in Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest. Your first 3-6 months will be a transition to the NHS registrar role predominantly in acute medicine with support in procedural skills and general medicine oncall skills. During this period you will undertake a cardiology clinic a week and front door cardiology assessments. Then, time dependent on competency, you will move to a full-time specialty doctor in the Cardiology Team role and General Medicine Oncall role (1 in 12 rota).
These posts will join colleagues in a dynamic general medicine service within the Health Board in delivering and supporting the Welsh Government's vision for NHS Wales. In addition to the established team we are also committed to continuing to expand this team with more resident grade doctors.
This is an ideal opportunity for those wishing to enter a specialty training programme but need some more time and UK experience including working towards MRCP. The department also has experience of supporting doctors who opt for Portfolio Pathway.
Main duties of the job
Doctors wishing to apply for this post must have full registration with the General Medical Council and shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two years of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
