The Diagnostic Imaging service at Milton Keynes University Hospital provides a breast screening (NHSBSP) and symptomatic imaging service for the population of Milton Keynes. This is delivered from both the static breast unit and mobile screening unit locations.

The Imaging department invests in high-quality patient care, which we are proud of, and the local community trusts us. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the team in continuing to provide high-quality care within the department.

Main duties of the job

It is an exciting time to join the breast imaging team following the re-design of the unit, which has seen the installation of a third room with tomosynthesis and CESM, as well as CESM biopsy and a newly designed staff hub. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute their existing and transferable skills in this role.

We are seeking applications from qualified, enthusiastic, caring, and motivated mammographers to join our friendly multidisciplinary team. You will need to be able to work collaboratively at all times. You will be a proactive team member willing to take on responsibility when needed and have a flexible approach to the department's needs. This is essential as there may be evening and weekend work.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be a HCPC registered Radiographer with a UK regulated level 7 postgraduate qualification in Mammography.

If your qualification is from overseas, you will need to provide a UK ENIC Statement of Comparability confirming that your qualification is equivalent to a level 7 postgraduate qualification. For more information, refer to the UK ENIC website.

Due to the nature of the role and to encourage women of all cultures and religions in our community to access breast screening, all applicants must be female. This is deemed an occupational requirement in accordance with the Equality Act, Schedule 9, Paragraph 1, and the Employment Statutory Code of Practices, Chapter 13, Paragraphs 13.5-13.

* Participate in the Breast Imaging Services staff rotation on the Mobile Unit and at the Breast Care Unit, undertaking all associated admin and clinical duties as required.
* Transport clinic paperwork and other consumables to and from distant sites in accordance with Caldicott principles and local guidelines.
* Work autonomously within your specialist area, consulting senior staff as necessary, and be accountable for your own professional actions.
* Work efficiently to complete breast screening lists within the allocated time, ensuring technical repeat rates conform to NHSBSP standards of less than 3%.
