The Addington hostel has been providing housing for men for around 130 years. It is based in Addington and is a large hostel site with multiple other flats and apartments to house up to 88 men at once for approximately 3 months. It is a unique 24 hour staffed wrap around housing service that provides counselling, groupwork, Social Workers, Nurses and lots of Support workers.
About the Role:
This new role has been added to focus upon the day to day property and functional needs of the Addington Hostel. This is a busy commercial sized site with 88 bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, commercial kitchens and laundry areas and about 1 hectare of grounds. You will be in a "hands on" role undertaking tasks and overseeing others to ensure the property is fit for purpose and ready to provide care for those walking in the front door
What will your responsibilities be:
* To oversee the day to day property response for the 2 large sites we operate from (Poulson St and Bealey Av) .
* To coordinate the making ready of the bedrooms and living areas for the next occupant. We do have daily turnover of bed spaces across the week
* Work alongside the Support workers and Property Coordinator in assisting in this process
* Ensure property meets all compliance and BWOF requirements
* Work alongside the Director in the budget and purchase and replacement of furniture, fit out and ongoing repairs around the site
* Work alongside the Operation Managers in providing practical assistance for day to day needs of the hostel across the day
* Line management of the Cleaners, Cooks and Property Coordinator.
* Engage with contractors to ensure buildings are kept to a high standard of presentation and fully operational
* Maintain a safe physical environment for staff to work and Tangata to live in
Our ideal candidate will:
* Have at least 5 years' property experience working in either Commercial hospitality or Transitional Housing services similar to this site
* Have completed at least a level 3 or 4 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or willing to undertake)
* Able to work within a male hostel (majority of staff are females) and understand and support the mission of this site and service.
* Have at least 2 years' experience in a leadership role overseeing property and line management of other staff
* Be able to be "hands on" in undertaking basic property maintenance tasks and physically engaged in doing the practical tasks involved

The starting salary for this role will fall between$75K and $85K
The starting hourly rate for this role will fall between $36 and $40
