Overview
Berneslai Homes is an arms-length management organisation, successfully managing 18,000 council homes and wholly owned by Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council. We are a key community anchor with a clear strategic direction toward 2031, recognised by our current C1 rating from the Regulator of Social Housing. This is a vital leadership role in our organisation: part of the Executive team and taking lead responsibility for the management of our Property Services.
This role is fundamental to our commitment to customers – ensuring safe, high-quality homes that enable communities to flourish. You will drive the modernisation of property services and deliver exceptional customer experiences, managing the £55 million budget for repairs and property investment with a strong focus on value for money. You will provide visible, values-led leadership and enable a right-first-time culture.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Property Services team, driving modernisation and delivering high-quality customer experiences.
* Oversee asset management, repairs and maintenance, and building safety with a strategic, value-for-money focus.
* Ensure delivery on our promises to customers, placing customer needs at the centre of all activities.
* Provide direction and purpose to the team to foster a right-first-time culture.
* Manage the £55 million budget for repairs and property investment effectively and efficiently.
* Collaborate with the management team to align ground-level delivery with strategic objectives.
Qualifications
* Significant leadership experience in a relevant setting.
* Expert professional knowledge in asset management, repairs, building safety, and property management.
* Ability to play a wider leadership role in the organisation and translate strategic objectives into on-the-ground delivery.
