Job overview
Croydon CAMHS are excited to advertise 2 Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist roles within the Croydon CAMHS Crisis Team. We would also consider a band 6 developmental post for someone who is passionate about crisis care but requires additional support/experience before progressing to a band 7 (This may suit a clinician who is currently a band 6 on a tier 4 CAMHS ward and would like to develop their career in the community, it may also suit a band 6 liaison worker who would like to specialist in CAMHS but does not have experience working with young people).
We would require a minimum of 1 years experience as a band 6 to consider a developmental role. We have a full term substantive post (1 WTE) as well as a part time option (22.5 hours).
Both posts open to registered Nurses/Social Workers/ Occupational Therapist or equivalent.
Successful applicant will form a close working relationship with peers, Clinical Service Lead and other professionals to provide safe care to young people presenting in A&E.
The post holder will provide, or advise on the delivery of high quality and safe care, ensuring consistently high standards of practice and clinical excellence which comply with the Trust and their registering body. The post holder will be a positive role model to other members of the team through the practice of evidence-based care and be expected to support professional development through clinical appraisal and supervision.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant/s will:
* Complete bio-psycho-social assessments of young people who present to Croydon University Hospital in a mental health crisis.
* Complete tailored safety plans to meet each individual's needs.
* Complete 7 day follow up appointments for young people who present to A+E in mental health crisis.
* Lead and participate in discharge planning meetings.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* Registered General Nurse and/or Registered Mental Nurse and/or Registered Learning Disability Nurse/Social worker/Or other registered Allied Health Professional.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience working in CAMHS / acute setting.
* Experience of research-based / reflective practice.
* Experience as a preceptor / mentor.
* Knowledge of clinical governance and audit.
* Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding.
* Knowledge of mental health legislation and of the practical application of Mental Health law.
* Significant relevant clinical experience.
* Experience of working with young people presenting with possible neurodiversity.
* Knowledge and experience of working with looked after and adopted young people.
Skills and Abilities
* To be able to assess and manage high-risk adolescent clients in a variety of settings, conducting risk assessments and formulating safety plans.
* To demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions regarding the confidentiality of clients and their families taking into considerations the risks to clients, self and the wider public.
* To be able to demonstrate the ability to make appropriate decisions under pressure, taking into consideration the risks to clients, self, and others and to be able to assess the often complex situations of these clients and their families within the context of their social environment. Understanding risk and resilience as well as protective factors.
* To play an active role in promoting mental health and well-being in young people and their families/carers.
* Advocates for all individuals, particularly those with protected characteristics; promotes equality and diversity.
