Job Purpose
The Competition and Events Manager will be responsible to the Head of Development and Coaching and will oversee the delivery of the Scottish Rowing Championships, Scottish Rowing Spring Regatta, Scottish Rowing Beach and Offshore Championships, Scottish Rowing Schools Indoor League and Championships, and the 2026 Home International Rowing Beach Sprints, being hosted in Scotland. We are looking for a dynamic team member who can identify growth opportunities, develop innovative delivery approaches, and inspire volunteers and partners across the rowing community.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning and operational delivery of the Scottish Rowing national competitions calendar, ensuring events are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
* Lead the coordination and delivery of the Home International Rowing Beach Sprints event, working with partners and stakeholders to ensure high standards of organisation and athlete experience.
* Develop and implement robust event safety plans, risk assessments and operational procedures in line with Scottish Rowing policies and national best practice.
* Provide guidance and support to clubs delivering Sanctioned Competitions and other events within the Scottish Rowing calendar, promoting consistent standards, safe delivery and positive participant experiences across all events.
* Liaise with host venues, clubs, partners, suppliers and officials to coordinate all logistical aspects of competition delivery, ensuring effective communication and clarity of roles and responsibilities.
* Recruit, support and coordinate event volunteers and officials, ensuring they are well briefed, appropriately trained and recognised for their contribution to successful event delivery.
* Manage and monitor the allocated events budget, ensuring effective use of resources, accurate financial reporting and value for money.
* Lead the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of event delivery, using participation data and stakeholder feedback to inform continuous improvement and future planning.
* Contribute as a member of the Development Team, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure competition delivery supports participation, strengthens clubs and contributes to the continued growth of rowing across Scotland.
* Contribute to the wider objectives of Scottish Rowing as set out in the Strategy 2026 and Beyond.
