Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Electrical Bias · Night Shift
Location: Perth
Salary: £43,000-£50,000 per annum
Type: Permanent night shift position (7pm to 7am). The role is on a static site. Benefits are included as part of the package.
The primary expertise should be in electrical work, but this is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary role. As the main technical presence on-site overnight, you will be flexible and ready to handle maintenance tasks across electrical, mechanical, and general facilities work.
The role is night-shift only, with a 7pm–7am pattern. A day-shift induction period is required for the first 3 months to gain site familiarity and meet the wider team before transitioning to nights.
Shift Pattern & Flexibility
* Coverage: 7-day-a-week coverage shared between two engineers.
* The rota is self-managed between you and your counterpart to ensure full coverage (examples include 4 on/4 off, 3 on/4 off, etc.).
* Induction Period: For the first 3 months, you will work the Day Shift.
Main Duties
* Electrical Duties (Core Specialist)
o Perform electrical installations and maintenance in strict compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) standards.
o Conduct testing, fault diagnosis, repairs, and update maintenance work orders as needed.
* Multi-Skilled & General Maintenance
o Maintain a "site-first" mindset: be ready to take on any task required, regardless of discipline.
o Support other trades with tasks such as wiring, calibration, alignment, and general repairs.
o Carry out mechanical repairs, building fabric fixes, or plumbing checks as needed.
o Ensure excellent housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
* Operational & Safety
o Operate independently as the technical lead during the night shift, making sound decisions without direct supervision.
o Participate actively in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
o Raise safety concerns confidently and professionally.
What we are looking for
* Qualifications
o Essential: BS 7671 (18th Edition) qualification in Electrical Installations.
o Desirable: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Experience & Skills
o True Multi-Skilled Approach: Qualified electrician comfortable supporting wider site operations and undertaking mechanical or general maintenance tasks as required.
o System Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, plant machinery, and controls.
o Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings, schematics, and SOPs.
o Autonomy: Self-motivated, well-organized, and disciplined enough to manage night-shift responsibilities.
