Overview:
We are recruiting for an experienced 5 Axis CNC Programmer to join a well established and growing precision engineering manufacturer based in High Wycombe.
This role is ideal for a Hypermill Programmer with strong multi-axis experience who enjoys working on complex, high precision components in a quality focused manufacturing environment. You will take ownership of programming and supporting 5 axis machining operations on Mikron or Matsuura CNC milling machines.
Key responsibilities:
• Programming complex 5 axis CNC milling operations using Hypermill CAM software
• Developing, testing, and optimising CNC programs for Mikron or Matsuura 5 axis machines
• Creating efficient toolpaths to achieve tight tolerances and high quality surface finishes
• Setting up 5 axis CNC machines including tooling, fixtures, and job prove outs
• Supporting production with technical input and process optimisation
• Reducing cycle times while maintaining quality and repeatability
• Troubleshooting machining and programming issues to minimise downtime
• Working closely with engineering, machining, and quality teams
• Maintaining accurate program documentation, setup sheets, and tooling lists
• Carrying out in process inspection where required
Experience required:
• Proven experience as a 5 Axis CNC Programmer within a precision engineering environment
• Strong Hypermill CAM programming experience essential
• Hands on experience with Mikron or Matsuura or similar 5 axis CNC milling machines
• Good understanding of G code, tooling strategies, and machine setup
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and tolerances
• Experience working to tight tolerances and high quality standards
• Confident problem solver with a methodical approach to programming
Desirable experience:
• Experience with Siemens or Heidenhain CNC controls
• Exposure to high speed machining and simultaneous 5 axis machining
• Experience with 3 plus 2 machining strategies
• Knowledge of additional CAM systems
