Clerk of Works/Voids Surveyor – Greater London
Contract: Temporary
Rate (Per Hour): £22.79(PAYE) - £28.60(Umbrella/LTD)
Hours: 36 Hours Per Week
On behalf of our Local Authority client, we are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Clerk of Works/Voids Surveyor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor, clerk of works, or post-inspector with a strong background in social housing voids, repairs, and contractor management to support the delivery of high-quality empty homes across the borough. The successful candidate will work closely with surveyors, contractors, and lettings teams to help achieve corporate void turnaround targets while ensuring properties are refurbished to a high standard and offer value for money.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out pre- and post-inspections of void properties across the borough
Produce detailed specifications and schedules of works using Schedule of Rates (SOR)
Ensure void properties are refurbished and ready for occupation within target turnaround times
Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, quality, and compliance standards
Work collaboratively with contractors, surveyors, lettings officers, and stakeholders throughout the voids process
Identify and report repair issues, defects, and outstanding works
Ensure works are delivered in line with housing standards, health & safety requirements, and contractual obligations
Maintain accurate records and update relevant IT systems to support performance management and reporting
Provide technical support and recommendations regarding repairs and refurbishment worksCandidate Requirements:
Previous experience as a Voids Surveyor, Clerk of Works, Post Inspector, Building Surveyor, or similar role
Experience within social housing, local authority, or housing maintenance environments
Strong knowledge of building repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment works
Experience producing specifications and schedules of rates (SOR)
Ability to manage contractors and monitor quality and performance effectively
Good understanding of health & safety and housing compliance standards
Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills
