Responsibilities
* Provide consultant‑led assessment, diagnosis, and management of children and young people with developmental, neuro‑disability, behavioural, and complex health needs in community settings.
* Lead and contribute to neurodevelopmental pathways, including assessment of autism spectrum disorder.
* Undertake safeguarding medical assessments for looked‑after children and children with complex social and health needs.
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and with partner agencies including education, social care, and allied health professionals.
* Provide clinical leadership, supervision and teaching to junior medical staff, SAS doctors, trainees and the wider multidisciplinary team.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvements, clinical governance and audit activities.
* Support strategic planning and delivery of commissioned community child health services and meet local population needs.
* Contribute to training, safeguarding reviews and statutory multi‑agency meetings.
* Support early intervention, reduce health inequalities, improve long‑term outcomes and ensure delivery of commissioned and statutory community child health services.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB or equivalent
* MRPCH or equivalent
* Full registration with GMC
* MSc in Paediatric Neuro‑disability
* On the GMC specialist register for Community Child Health (CCH), or within 6 months of CCT for CCH, or specialist register for Paediatrics with demonstration of Level 3 CCH competencies obtained through CESR
Experience
* Experience of Paediatrics
* Experience of Community Paediatrics
* Special interest in Community Child Health
Skills
* Experience and clinical skills in child development and childhood disability
* Ability to assess children and young people for ASD
* Competent in health assessment of a child looked after and child being adopted
* Ability to assess health of children with special educational needs
* Ability to work well as team member
* Flexible approach to service delivery and commitment to service development
* Ability to communicate well with patients/families and colleagues
* Ability to lead and complete audit projects then implement change
* Effective teaching skills
* Assessment for Children with Behavioural Problems including ADHD
Personal Circumstances
* Commitment to personal professional development
* Ability to travel across the county.
