Description
This role involves providing high‑quality, patient‑focused, efficient administrative support to the Multidisciplinary Team within the Thoracic and Ambulatory Directorate. The incumbent will proactively monitor and track patient pathways to ensure the patient journeys are processed timely and in line with national and local targets. The post holder will liaise with clinical and non‑clinical staff both internally and externally. The role does not involve face‑to‑face patient contact.
Main duties of the job
* The ability to communicate basic or sensitive information to colleagues, patients and relatives.
* The ability to pay close attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage.
* The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality administrative support.
* Ability to organise, prioritise and adjust own workload in relation to the department’s priorities on a daily basis.
* Input data accurately into a computerised system, and after training, work within own competence level and train new or existing staff in the administrator role.
* Routine scanning of patient documentation within one working day where required.
* Receive and sort incoming/outgoing mail.
* Cross‑cover colleagues where required.
* Input and maintain patient data in various hospital IT systems (Healthroster Lorenzo, EMR, Excel, Word and others) according to standard operating procedures.
* Enter data regarding patient episodes onto the database.
* Run reports and check for missing data and validate information where required.
* Assist with other data quality checks as required.
* Perform general administrative tasks to support the safe running of the service.

Qualifications
* NVQ II in Administration or Customer Service or equivalent qualification or experience.
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent qualification or experience.
Experience
* Previous database administration.
* Previous experience of working in an office environment.
* Previous experience of using Microsoft Office applications.
* Previous experience of working in a customer‑facing role.
* The ability to communicate basic or sensitive information to colleagues, patients and relatives.
* Attention to detail in written and electronic communication and information storage.
* Capability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality administrative support.
* Suggestion of changes to own practice.
* Organise, prioritise and adjust workload in relation to departmental priorities on a daily basis.
* Demonstrated personal duty of care in the safe use of equipment and resources.
* Maintains quality in own work.
* Knowledge of RTT requirements.
* Previous experience of working in the NHS.
