We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Holme House, working as a Maths Teacher. This position is offered on a part-time basis (18.5 hours per week) and is for an initial fixed term duration of 9 months. Who are Novus? Site Information HMP Holme House, located in Stockton-on-Tees, is a Category C men's prison. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe, and where causes of prison stress are minimised. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society. Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need to: Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills Have the passion and ability to motivate and enthuse learners Utilise organisational skills to prioritise workload and meet deadlines and targets Be committed to positive team working Have experience of creating stimulating, vibrant environments, which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners Have a track record of achieving quality targets and producing accurate and timely reports Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS), or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only) The above criteria are listed as essential on the role profile.
