Salary: £41,470 + Company Vehicle (OTE £60,000 with overtime)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am–6pm + every other Saturday (8am–1pm)
On-Call: 24-hour rota requirement

We are now seeking an experienced Commercial Roadside Technician to join our growing recovery team.
Role Overview
As a Commercial Roadside Technician, you will be responsible for operating one of our commercial recovery roadside assistance vans. You will attend roadside breakdowns and support both individual customers and our network clients. The role requires strong mechanical expertise and the ability to carry out repairs at the roadside where possible, covering a wide range of vehicles including commercial lorries, buses, trailers, cars, and vans.
In addition to roadside duties, you will also carry out workshop repairs and maintenance as required, supporting the wider recovery and training operation.
During quieter roadside periods, you will support the recovery team by providing local recovery driving services.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond promptly to roadside breakdowns for cars, vans, lorries, buses, and trailers.
* Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs, tyre changes, and diagnostic checks.
* Use JalTest and/or Texa diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve vehicle faults.
* Operate a company roadside assistance van, ensuring it is well-maintained and fully equipped.
* Provide safe recovery and towing services when repairs cannot be completed at the roadside.
* Complete workshop-based repairs and maintenance as required.
* Deliver excellent customer service to private motorists, fleet operators, and network partners.
* Complete all required documentation, service reports, and compliance checks.
* Participate in a 24-hour on-call rota and provide flexible support to meet business needs.
* Assist with general recovery operations locally during quiet periods.
Requirements
* Proven roadside mechanical repair experience, including light and heavy vehicles.
* Experience using JalTest or Texa vehicle diagnostics (essential).
* Strong knowledge of tyres, diagnostics, and commercial vehicle systems.
* Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in commercial mechanics (desirable).
* Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
* HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence (desirable – training provided if not held).
* Category D (bus) licence (training provided if not held).
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
* Flexibility to cover out-of-hours and weekend work on a rota basis.
* Customer-focused with strong communication skills.
