PRODUCTION MANAGER JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager with previous supervisory experience, along with either production / product distribution experience.
The successful Production Manager will oversee a team of up to 10 staff, manage a busy production schedule, coach and mentor staff, and ensuring the smooth running of a very busy department of this Poole based manufacturing / distribution company
As Production Manager, you’ll lead and develop a small team ensuring the smooth and efficient operation. You'll be responsible for upholding high standards in health & safety, staff management, planning and execution, while continuously driving process improvement.
PRODUCTION MANAGER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Supervise, coach and develop the team, with key responsibilities to include performance management, recruitment and training of new staff members
* Conduct monthly 121 meetings with all staff members, return to work / absence meetings, and ensure that all communications are recorded in order to support the ongoing development of staff
* Plan and manage Works Order execution and oversee the inventory of consumables and packaging materials
* Health & Safety: Ensure that all colleagues are aware of, and adhere to all Health and Safety policies and expectations. Record and communicate any changes / updates / issues appropriately
* Ensure compliance with ISO procedures
* Review and implement processes to ensure that lean operational practice is applied effectively
* Stock Management: Ensuring that consumables are sufficiently stocked and / or replenished, in order to ensure production timeframes can be met in accordance to KPI’s
* Produce and implement resource plans ensuring staffing levels are aligned with the plan / demand and budget to meet SLA’s and delivery of projects within the agreed time frames.
* Ensure all machinery, equipment and vehicles are fit for purpose, service contracts are in place and preventative maintenance and repairs are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
* Ensure all relevant procedures, toolbox talks and training guides are signed by staff before carrying out the associated activity.
* Monitor and maintain internal use product stock levels (Packaging, labels, paper etc.) for the operation.
* Provision of management reports, KPI’s and detailed data views and analysis.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the department
* Raise purchase orders aligned to workload and customer demand
PRODUCTION MANAGER KEY SKILLS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Proven management / supervisory experience in either a production / logistics / distribution / warehouse environment
* Strong understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement
* Confident decision-making and planning abilities
* Experience with health and safety compliance and team development
* IT literate with previous experience of working with ERP / MRP systems
* Strong communication skills, and previous people-management experience
