This role reports to faculty.
Summary
The student will create profiles of climate disaster survivors as part of the Climate Disaster Project: From Catastrophe to Community.
Key Responsibilities
* Finding people to interview about climate disaster experiences
* Interviewing people about their experiences, using Climate Disaster Project (CDP) protocols
* Transcribing interviews and writing profiles of people who have survived climate disasters
* Editing other students’ written work
* Reviewing profiles with interviewees
* Completing record-keeping for the CDP
* Participating in planning for publishing and exhibiting climate survivor profiles
Qualifications
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Must be a Journalism or Creative Writing student
* Reliable and hardworking
* Empathetic, understanding and outgoing
* Ability to make contacts with climate disaster survivors
Salary Information
Student Assistants are paid as per the following:
* Less than one year of post-secondary (less than 30 credits) – BC Minimum Wage
* One year of post-secondary (30-60 credits) – BC Minimum Wage plus 8%
* With a post-secondary diploma or degree – BC Minimum Wage plus 21%
