Conexon is a rapidly growing company working with Rural Electric Cooperatives to build advanced fiber to the home (FTTH) networks nationwide. We are currently looking for an Installation/QC Technician to join the Conexon Connect operations team.
This role's primary responsibility is to install, maintain, and repair customer FTTX broadband and voice services. The technician will also perform quality control functions for other installation technicians in the assigned area. Additionally, they will be responsible for maintaining inventory between technicians and warehouses throughout the territory. The Installation/QC Technician will typically install aerial and/or buried service drop cabling, ONTs, network interface devices (NID), and perform wiring for new or existing FTTX broadband, voice, and special circuit subscriber services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Install FTTX broadband service to residential and commercial customers.
* Ensure customer services are restored after trouble tickets are dispatched.
* Complete interior and exterior cabling of fiber optic and Category 6 Ethernet cables.
* Perform quality control checks of other technicians.
* Assign equipment and materials to warehouses, technicians, and customers.
* Maintain proper inventory at each project location.
* Document inventory assignments within the inventory system.
* Complete requisitions and purchase orders within the system for approval and vendors/distributors.
* Track progress of feeder construction.
* Communicate with field personnel to ensure inventory levels are sufficient.
* Negotiate with vendors to ensure procurement needs are met.
* Reconcile inventory.
* Update customer equipment records.
* Document processes and procedures.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
* More than 5 years of experience in FTTX installation and implementation.
* NISC experience.
* Strong PC and Microsoft Office skills.
* Ability to use optical test equipment, including fusion splicers and OTDRs.
* Ability to operate a forklift.
* Ability to safely operate a company vehicle.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work remotely with limited supervision.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Physically able to lift 100 pounds.
