In a nutshell We are a leading Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) services contractor currently looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Manager within our Thames Valley region. The ideal candidate will come from a contracting background and have a strong track record in both pre-contract negotiation and the commercial management of high-value, fast-track projects. This role requires someone confident in leading the commercial delivery of multi-million-pound schemes from start to finish, ensuring commercial performance and contract compliance throughout. Day to day This is a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that will have a lasting impact for generations to come. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in the design and consultation process across a diverse range of developments—from residential care villages and hotels to innovative, ground-breaking client projects. You’ll be involved at every stage, helping shape exceptional outcomes. As Commercial Manager, your responsibilities will include overseeing all commercial aspects of the project from the design phase through to final account agreement. Key duties include: Leading commercial input during the design stage and supporting the preparation of the tender bid, including submission of the AMP (Absolute Maximum Price) for construction. Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers during the pre-construction phase to ensure commercial alignment. Collaborating closely with the design, estimating, and pre-construction teams to maintain robust commercial oversight during the early stages of the project. Reviewing and negotiating contract terms with the client, with support from senior management. Negotiating and placing sub-contract agreements with specialist subcontractors. Preparing and submitting monthly interim valuations in accordance with contract requirements. Managing and agreeing contract variations with both the client and subcontractors. Preparing and issuing compliant payment notices to subcontractors, in line with agreed terms. Managing upstream and downstream final account agreements. Producing and presenting accurate monthly financial reports in line with the company’s reporting timetable. Reviewing the project programme to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including timely issuance of relevant notices.
