Job summary
The Assistant Directorate Manager will be responsible, in conjunction with the Senior Management Team for the performance, development and operational management of the Emergency Department and the Minor Injuries Units services within the Division.
This will involve delivery against operational performance measures, including Welsh Government Ministerial Targets, the achievement of financial balance for the Directorate, whilst ensuring the quality and safety of urgent and emergency services for our patients. The post holder will work closely with the Directorate Manager, Clinical Director and the Senior Management Team to make a positive contribution to the delivery of services across the local health community and relevant networks.
Main duties of the job
Working with the Directorate Manager, Clinical Director, Senior Nurses, and their respective teams, the post holder will be expected to provide professional management support, leadership and operational expertise to ensure that all services within the Directorate under the managerial remit of the Urgent Care Division are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with Health Board and Divisional objectives.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
* Directly, lead and motivate relevant directorates in partnership with Clinical Directors, ensuring high standards of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery; align activity to national policy and organisational objectives.
* Promote effective communication within the management team to ensure clear and effective leadership for the directorates.
* Exercise judgment on complex data and situations, analysing and interpreting data to manage day‑to‑day directorate operations.
* Work closely with the Divisional Management Team, Clinical Directors, Senior Nurses and Service Managers to develop strategic and operational plans; contribute to long‑term strategic plans that align with the board's initiatives and national policy.
* Ensure the delivery of services meets Welsh Government Ministerial Targets, achieves financial balance, and maintains patient safety and quality standards.
Qualifications & Skills
* Meets all essential criteria as per attached job description/person specification.
* Ability to analyse and appropriately present complex information.
* Experience in a medical/acute environment and knowledge of required role.
* Experience participating in significant change management projects.
* Experience producing reports and presenting to a range of audiences.
* Experience managing in a multidisciplinary setting.
