Castle Point Borough Council is seeking to appoint an Estates & Asset Assistant Director on 6-month temporary basis. Please note this role will be based in the office for a minimum of 3 days per week.

Are you a visionary leader with a passion for transforming public assets? Castle Point Borough Council is looking for a dynamic Assistant Director – Estates to join our senior leadership team and drive the future of our community’s land and property.
The Role
This isn’t just about managing buildings; it’s about strategic impact. As a key advisor to the Director for Commercial & Assets and Elected Members, you will:
1. Drive Value: Identify opportunities to maximise the value of Council assets for the benefit of the community
2. Lead Change: Be at the heart of our organisational effectiveness agenda, translating high-level strategy into real-world delivery
3. Inspire Teams: Nurture a high-performing culture, mentoring staff and managing a significant service budget
4. Shape Strategy: Lead the preparation of the Strategic Asset Management Plan and handle high-stakes acquisitions and disposals
Key skills/experience required
We are looking for a naturally collaborative leader who is commercially astute.
5. Expertise: A degree-level education and RICS (or equivalent) qualification
6. Experience: A proven track record of senior management in complex, political environments
7. Innovation: The ability to implement digital technologies and creative solutions to meet resident needs
