The role
The purpose of the Digital Transformation- Senior Advisor role is to work with manufacturing clients of all sizes to identify information systems requirements, along with opportunities for the introduction of appropriate digital technologies, using our structured engagement processes. The role holder will be responsible for developing digitalisation transformation plans to support the client’s business growth strategy.
A Digital Manufacturing Advisor plays a crucial role in the UK manufacturing sector by helping companies adopt and integrate digital technologies to improve their operations.
Key responsibilities and aspects of the role will include:
Technology Integration: Advising on the implementation of advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, robotics, and Digital Twins to streamline manufacturing processes and enhance productivity.
Process Optimization: Analysing current manufacturing processes and recommending digital solutions to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality and other client KPI’s.
Training and Development: Providing training advice to ensure staff are able to utilise new digital tools and systems, ensuring that the workforce is skilled in using these technologies effectively.
Data Management: Implementing data collection and analysis systems to monitor performance, predict maintenance needs, and support decision-making.
Sustainability Initiatives: Promoting the use of digital technologies to support sustainability goals, such as reducing energy consumption and minimizing the carbon footprint of manufacturing operations.
Strategic Planning: Assisting in the development of digital transformation strategies that align with the company’s long-term goals and market demands.
Collaboration and Networking: Working with various stakeholders, including technology providers, industry experts, and government bodies, to stay updated on the latest trends and innovations in digital manufacturing.

Main Responsibilities:
Understanding our client’s problems and how MTC can support their resolution.
Identification of appropriate digital technologies.
Using assessment tools to identify the current state of digital systems maturity.
Running workshops to identify digital technology opportunities to support strategic growth.
Evaluating opportunities to define work packages with clear value propositions.
Planning for information system selection.
Developing pilot programmes for digitalisation projects.
Leading project work programmes and managing the activities of junior team members.
Developing roadmaps that describe how to enhance a client’s capability.
In addition to reporting to the Digital Transformation team leader there are technical and administrative roles that also need to be performed to ensure effective delivery of MTC’s business.

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Communication Skills
The Digital Transformation Senior Advisor role is critical to lead and guide project stakeholders (Customer, 3rd party specialist technology partners and MTC resources) in defining and deploying digital technology associated with industrial projects.
The role holder must be articulate and demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills.
Innovation
The role holder will perform a key role in identifying opportunities for the application of digital technologies, processes and methodologies for the solution of industrial problems.
The role holder will be expected to demonstrate highly developed problem solving skills and apply these skills to complex multi-dimensional problems. This role will involve the identification of innovative ways to use digital technologies to solve industrial challenges.
Knowledge
The role holder will be involved in guiding MTC customers on the application of digital technologies. The role holder should have a good working knowledge of the following:
Different types of manufacturing systems (ideally ERP, MRP, MES and PLM), their purpose and integration.
IT and OT system architectures.
Data and information required to support successful manufacturing and business operations.
Additionally, awareness of the following would be an advantage:
Manufacturing Operational Efficiency improvement methods
Business Process Re-engineering for Innovation
Change management.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Good Engineering, Information Systems or Business degree, possibly with a Masters qualification.
Experience of leadership and people management.
Highly computer literate.
Experience in the manufacturing sector is essential either as a manager, manufacturing engineer, information systems consultant, management consultant, systems analyst or systems architect.
Experience of manufacturing system implementation projects is desirable.
A full British driving licence and a willingness to travel will be a necessity as a significant amount of time will be spent on customer sites.
