JOB TITLE: Strategic Finance & Workforce Planning Manager
SALARY: The salary banding is £59,850 - £66,500
LOCATION: Halifax, Newport/Cardiff, Birmingham, Chester, Manchester
HOURS: 35 hours, full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
Become part of a new and exciting team dedicated to shaping the future of Consumer Lending (CL).
This hybrid role combines financial management, cost oversight, and strategic workforce planning to support Consumer Lending’s long-term business objectives.
You’ll lead initiatives that align financial strategy with workforce capability, ensuring the right people with the right skills are in the right roles at the right time. The role demands strong collaboration across CL business areas, Finance, and People & Places, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and influencing senior customers.
What will I be doing?
1. Support financial planning cycles for partnered CL business areas, including FTE and cost modelling across multi-year horizons.
2. Oversee recruitment governance and ensure alignment with strategic workforce plans.
3. Partner with the Business, Finance and People teams to forecast workforce needs and skill gaps.
4. Drive strategic workforce planning initiatives, including location strategy and talent mix.
5. Analyse workforce data to inform investment decisions and transformation programmes.
6. Influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams to embed workforce planning into business strategy.

What you’ll need
7. Strong financial competence with experience in cost management and budgeting.
8. Expertise in strategic workforce planning, including being able to set up and monitor forecasting and scenario modelling.
9. Excellent customer engagement and influencing skills.
10. Ability to set up and interpret complex data and translate into actionable insights.
11. Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Workday, Oracle, and workforce planning platforms.
12. Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with cross-functional teams.
Desirable Experience
13. Background in financial services or regulated industries.
14. Experience with planning cycles (e.g., 4YOP, 6YOP).
15. Knowledge of job architecture, skills taxonomy, and talent analytics.
