We are seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to support ongoing and upcoming residential infrastructure projects. This role will focus heavily on residential groundworks, including roads and sewers, and requires a hands‑on engineer with strong setting‑out and coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting out for residential groundworks packages, including roads, drainage, and foundations
* Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and QA requirements
* Managing and interpreting technical drawings and site documentation
* Coordinating with site managers, subcontractors, and design teams
* Carrying out as‑built surveys and maintaining accurate site records
* Ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations at all times
* Supporting progress reporting and resolving technical issues on site
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Site Engineer within residential groundworks
* Strong knowledge of roads and sewers (278 works, drainage, adoptable standards)
* Proficient in setting out using GPS and total station equipment
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* CSCS card (essential)
* SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
* Own equipment preferred but not essential
* Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
