2 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• This is a frontline, community-focused role responsible for managing a designated patch of approximately 750 tenancies, including general needs housing, independent retirement living and leasehold properties.
• The postholder will be responsible for all aspects of tenancy and estate management, with a particular focus on rent collection, tenancy sustainment, anti-social behaviour, and neighbourhood improvement.
• The role requires excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to tenancy enforcement and rent recovery, and a firm understanding of housing legislation and safeguarding duties.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Proactively manage rent accounts and take appropriate action on arrears, including preparing for possession proceedings where necessary.
• Conduct tenancy sign-ups, new tenant visits, and flexible tenancy reviews.
• Process applications relating to Right to Buy, mutual exchanges, succession, and tenancy transfers.
• Undertake regular estate inspections and coordinate responses to estate issues (e.g. ASB, abandoned vehicles, communal maintenance).
• Address tenancy breaches, prepare court documentation, and represent the service in court where required.
• Provide excellent customer service to tenants and leaseholders, handling complaints, queries, and service requests.
• Identify and refer safeguarding and support needs to the relevant agencies and internal support teams.
• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g. caretaking, repairs, ASB, housing support) to deliver a joined-up service.
Skills/Experience:
• Strong working knowledge of tenancy law, rent recovery processes, succession, and the Right to Buy legislation.
• Proven experience of managing rent arrears, tenancy breaches, and neighbourhood issues in a social housing setting.
• Confident conducting home visits, lone working, and managing difficult or sensitive situations.
• Proficient in using housing management systems and maintaining accurate case records.
• Ability to balance a varied caseload and meet performance targets and deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
• Experience in identifying and acting on safeguarding concerns.
• Working knowledge of Universal Credit and the impact of welfare reform on tenants.
Additional Information:
• This is an agile working role, with a blend of office-based, home-based, and site visits.
• The role requires a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• The closing date: 12/09/2025 @17:00.
• Full-time role: 37 hours/week.
