Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Overview
We are looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Hybrid Cloud Services team in DWP Digital. Our team builds and maintains digital solutions that support more than 100 million people in the UK daily.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, maintain, and review systems and services to ensure delivery of best practices whilst working with stakeholders at all levels to set priorities, objectives, and timescales.
* Identify and automate toil where appropriate to improve efficiency, using Python and bash scripts.
* Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
* Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab or equivalent.
* Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure services and cloud networking.
* Respond to alerts and perform troubleshooting using runbooks.
Role Details
You will be hands‑on with AWS, Azure or GCP, using infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native networking to build and maintain secure, scalable platforms. You’ll design with resilience and security in mind, embedding controls to mitigate threats and ensuring reliable performance. You’ll work closely with other engineering teams and have autonomy to shape solutions that meet real user needs. You’ll support live products, respond to incidents, and continuously improve our infrastructure.
Location & Salary
* Location: Digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield – whichever is most convenient.
* Hybrid working: You’ll spend some time working at home and some time in a hub.
* Pay: Up to £52,442 per annum.
* Pension: Civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97% (≈£12,000 per year).
* Holidays: 26 days starting, rising to 31 days over time, plus public holidays.
* Flexibility: Up to 3 extra days off a month on flex‑time.
