The role
As a Senior Vehicle Trials Engineer, you will support our work on the Patria 6×6 armoured personnel carrier vehicle programme, following our agreement to be Patria’s UK build partner. This is a high-profile opportunity to join a major defence programme, contributing to the delivery of a proven, NATO-backed platform for the British Army. You’ll be at the forefront of innovation in defence engineering, leading the planning and execution of vehicle trials across diverse and challenging environments. Your work will directly contribute to the safety, performance, and reliability of cutting-edge systems, making a real impact on national security and global stability.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
1. Developing detailed test plans, procedures, and instrumentation strategies
2. Coordinating with internal teams, external test facilities, and customer representatives
3. Capturing and analysing test data to support engineering decisions
4. Producing clear and concise technical reports for verification and validation
5. Supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions for test anomalies
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Senior Vehicle Trials Engineer
6. Significant experience in vehicle testing or trials within defence, automotive, or aerospace sectors
7. Strong understanding of test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis
8. Proven ability to manage complex test campaigns
9. Skilled in coordinating with multiple stakeholders
10. Experience in producing technical documentation and reports
Qualifications for the Senior Vehicle Trials Engineer
11. Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Systems, or related Engineering discipline
12. Additional qualifications in systems engineering or data analysis are advantageous
