As an IT Application Analyst in the Synnovis AMS team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance, and development of key laboratory and business applications.

This role is based in Synnovis Services which provides and manages Synnovis’ laboratory facilities, including all equipment, consumables, maintenance services and LIMS.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with end-users within Synnovis, other IT teams, and third-party vendors to ensure system stability, resolve issues, and implement improvements. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your scientific understanding or existing IT expertise within a dedicated healthcare diagnostics environment. This role is open to Internal Synlab Group Candidates.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

At Synnovis, we are currently shaping the future of pathology services by creating a world-leading Hub and Spoke pathology network with our NHS partners. A large part of this modernisation will involve moving 70% of our services to a purpose built, state of the art Hub laboratory in the heart of London. For now, the job you are applying for will be based at one of our hospital sites however, from 1 April 2024 our people and services will start to move to our Hub laboratory in Blackfriars, Southwark, SE1, with some work remaining in refurbished essential services laboratories across our hospital network, focusing on the rapid turnover of urgent tests. The IT Application Analyst will be required to provide 2nd and 3rd line application support for a diverse portfolio of systems integral to Synnovis operations, including (but not limited to):

·Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS): WinPath (including Winpath 2023.1), Cyberlab, Keystone, Tquest, PathManager, Data submission Middleware and Connectivity: APEX DH, Charon.

·Quality Control and Data Management: Unity QC, KHMDC.

·Document Management and Reporting: Adest/Paperstream, Textstor.

·National Systems: NPEx.

·Troubleshooting application-related incidents and problems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to Synnovis services.

·Performing routine system administration tasks, including user account management within Active Directory and other application-specific security models.

·Assisting with system upgrades, patching, and new implementations within the Synnovis application landscape.

·Developing and maintaining system documentation, including support guides and standard operating procedures.

·Liaising with software suppliers for fault resolution and system enhancements.

·Participating in project work related to application development and deployment.

·Supporting data extraction and reporting requirements.

·Ensuring compliance with relevant data protection and information security policies.

Synnovis is a pathology partnership between SYNLAB UK and Ireland, and the NHS, including sites,Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to deliver and transform pathology services across South East London.

The partnership provides services to 1.7 million people living in South East London, as well as to hundreds of thousands of patients from outside the region who use local healthcare services.

The partnership provides diagnostics, testing and digital pathology for hospital trusts, GP services and other healthcare providers.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Desirable criteria

2. ITIL Training
3. Comptia A+ certification or equivalent
4. HCPC Registered

Experience

Essential criteria

5. Experience in the use of laboratory (LIMS)/hospital computer systems
6. Experience working with ICT or Lab team
7. Experience in data analysis, interpretation and presentation

Desirable criteria

8. Experience of HL7 messaging and integration engines
9. Experience of working alone during an out-of-hours service
10. Experience working on complex ICT Projects or tasks

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

11. Basic knowledge of Computer hardware, software, networking and their uses
12. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, Teams and Powerpoint)
13. To provide a professional front when dealing with colleagues at all levels
14. Good general knowledge of workflows within pathology and/or healthcare settings

Desirable criteria

15. Knowledge of Ordercomms
16. Knowledge of using ITSM platforms
17. Knowledge of validating hardware such as Analysers or other Lab equipment
