Job Summary
Senior Clinical Advisor. Closing date: 17 June 2026. Vacancies across the Trust area, Newburn, Hebburn and Wynyard. The role is within the Integrated Urgent Care Clinical Assessment Service, delivering assessment and care to patients across all age groups, including complex cases. Provide assessment, medication advice, health information, advising on home management, and refer to appropriate care levels.
Main duties of the job
Senior Clinical Advisors work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care. Responsibilities include:
* Telephone assessment of health and clinical needs using NHS Pathways and other decision support systems across 111 and 999.
* Providing assessment, medication advice, and health information to support patients and families.
* Supervising, teaching, precepting, coaching and mentoring other staff, students, and health advisors.
* Applying leadership to inform practice and manage complex, unpredictable presentations.
Qualifications
* Registered with the appropriate regulatory body, e.g. Registered General Nurse or Paramedic, educated to degree level or equivalent.
Experience
* Substantial clinical experience in a range of settings, including multi‑professional/multi‑agency environments.
Desirable
* Supervision/mentoring or leadership/management training.
* Experience supporting or managing change.
* Experience working within IUC / NHS 111 as a clinical or health advisor, or demonstrating high skill in remote patient assessment.
Training
* Willingness to participate in CDSS training if required; commitment to CPD and lifelong learning.
* Knowledge of client group and evidence of related training, competency‑based training, IT skills with word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
