About Blackpool and The Fylde College

At Blackpool and The Fylde College, we’re more than an education provider – we’re a driving force for opportunity, innovation and community growth. As one of the UK’s leading further education colleges and an exempt charity, we deliver high‑quality technical and professional education that transforms lives and supports regional prosperity. With over 12,500 students and around 1,000 colleagues, we’re proud to be an anchor institution driving social mobility, inclusion and success.

Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and forward‑thinking Curriculum Leader (Quality) to drive improvements in learner progress, assessment practice and quality processes across the college. The role is focused on leading the process of quality – ensuring that expectations, systems and standards are applied consistently and effectively – rather than managing a curriculum area or delivering teaching.

This is an additional responsibility role, ideal for someone looking to broaden their leadership experience and influence practice beyond their own area. You will work closely with Curriculum Managers and Programme Leaders to support quality improvement activity and strengthen assessment and learner progress across teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead on improving the consistency and effectiveness of learning and assessment processes
* Provide coaching and guidance to colleagues, without formal line management responsibility
* Support colleagues to strengthen assessment practice, standardisation and learner outcomes
* Monitor and drive the implementation of quality systems and QIP actions, using data and quality intelligence to identify themes, risks and areas for improvement
* Drive improvement in assessment practice, including standardisation, exam readiness and alignment with awarding body requirements
* Use data and quality intelligence to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement in learner progress and outcomes

Qualifications and Experience

* Relevant experience in curriculum or quality improvement leadership in education
* Strong analytical skills and experience using data to drive improvement
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to coach and influence across the college
* Experience with quality systems such as QIP, assessment tracking or compliance frameworks
* Trade experience is desirable but not essential

Benefits

* Generous annual leave, plus five additional gifted days during the Christmas closure period (pro‑rated for part‑time employees)
* Excellent pension scheme, including Teachers’ Pension Scheme (28.68% employer contribution) and local government pension scheme (8.1% employer contribution)
* Professional development and funded training opportunities
* Flexible working options and family‑friendly policies
* Comprehensive wellbeing support, including employee assistance programme, occupational health, free flu vouchers (for those not entitled through the NHS), free eye tests, free healthy breakfast, and more
* Access to on‑site facilities such as a fully equipped gym, sports facilities, health and beauty salon, and guided campus walking routes (trim trails)
* On‑site food outlets including subsidised Starbucks
* Free car parking, car lease scheme, cycle‑to‑work scheme and other transport benefits
* On‑site children’s sports camp during selected half‑term breaks

EEO Statement

Blackpool and The Fylde College is committed to equality and diversity and is an exempt charity. All roles at B&FC are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended). Employment is subject to a range of pre‑employment checks including an enhanced DBS check, verification of qualifications and references, and the right to work in the UK. The amendments to the Act (2013 and 2020) mean that certain convictions and cautions are considered ‘protected’ and do not need to be disclosed to employers.

Safeguarding

B&FC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners and expects all colleagues to share in this commitment. All colleagues are required to complete safeguarding training and uphold the College’s policies and procedures to ensure a safe and supportive environment for learners.
