What's involved with this role: Interim Senior Planning Officer Job Ref: NW Leicestershire TCL 5247301 Pay Rate: Up to £20.22 per hour PAYE depending on experience Hours per week: 36.25 Monday – Friday, 9am to 4.45pm Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months City: Coalville, Leicestershire The purpose of the role is to supervise the work of the Planning Officers/Planning Technicians, ensuring that the work is properly distributed, that deadlines are met and that any problems/issues are brought to the attention of the Planning and Development Team Manager or in their absence to the Principal Planning and Customer Liaison Officer. Key Responsibilities: To assess and make recommendations upon all types of planning and related applications within an allocated part of the local authority’s area. Write appeal statements and give evidence at Hearings, Public Inquiries and in the Magistrates’ Courts. Attend the Council’s Planning Committee meetings, public meetings and liaison committee meetings including meetings outside normal office hours as may be required. To advise members of the public on planning matters and to provide pre-application advice within an allocated part of the local authority’s area. Full UK driving licence. Qualifications: Qualification in Town and Country Planning or equivalent, or working towards qualification. Skills & Experience: Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role. Able to present applications to planning committee. Experience in dealing with major and contentious planning applications. Up to date knowledge of planning policy and legislation. Provision of pre-application advice. Experience of having dealt with complex minor and major planning applications Experience of presenting your own planning applications to the planning committee Excellent negotiation skills with applicants, objectors, supporters and Councillors Experience of formulating pre-application advice Experience of the use of the Uniform planning administration system.
