Role Description:
The Senior Media Kitchen Technician will provide essential support to the Research & Development teams across multiple sites. The ideal candidate seeks a new challenge in a dynamic, collaborative environment, with a willingness to learn and adapt. A key responsibility is the timely production of sterile microbial culture media, requiring meticulous attention to detail and adherence to SOPs and recipes to ensure standardization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manufacture media, sterile supplies, and antibiotic stocks; pour plates
2. Assess and complete tasks efficiently
3. Assist and train new team members
4. Manage collection of glassware for washing, sterilization, and restocking
5. Handle laboratory waste streams appropriately
6. Operate autoclaves and laboratory glass washers
7. Maintain, calibrate, and service laboratory equipment
8. Coordinate with Lab Manager and Lab Coordinator on stock levels
9. Manage deliveries and storage
10. Restock glassware and sterile supplies
11. Ensure regular turnover of lab coats
12. Maintain organized and clean laboratory spaces
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Previous laboratory experience, preferably in a similar role
* Ability to follow SOPs accurately
* Effective communication skills and team-oriented attitude
* Organized, proactive, and hands-on approach
* Ability to remain calm and adaptable under changing conditions
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Biological degree or equivalent experience
* Troubleshooting and bottleneck identification skills

Location: Innovation Centre & Ella May Barnes Building, Norwich Research Park, NORWICH
Remuneration: £27,000 - £28,500 DOE
Holidays: 25 days + Bank Holidays + Birthday
