Role Overview
Technical Accountant – Financial Reporting Manager responsible for complex accounting across the Group.
Key Skills & Experience
* ACA or ACCA qualified.
* Experience in a Top 10 / Big 4 accounting firm with audit or technical advisory background.
* Deep understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP, with knowledge of UK tax and VAT an advantage.
* Ability to analyse complex legal contracts and determine correct accounting treatment.
* Excellent written communication for board‑level technical reports and disclosures.
Responsibilities
* Lead preparation of statutory accounts for Group entities under IFRS and FRS 101/102.
* Stay current on IASB/FRC updates, assessing impact of new standards (e.g., IFRS 16, IFRS 15) on the business.
* Author technical memos on complex areas such as share‑based payments, hedge accounting, business combinations and impairment reviews.
* Manage relationships with external auditors, acting as lead technical contact during year‑end audits.
* Maintain and update the Group Accounting Policy manual to ensure consistency across subsidiaries.
* Provide accounting input for commercial contracts, corporate restructuring and tax planning projects.
Location
Chesterfield/UK Remote – 1-2 days a week on site in Chesterfield ideally.
