Working as a GIS Analyst, you will participate in Civil, Municipal, and Environmental Engineering projects on activities pertaining to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Data Management. You will work closely with and in support of project managers, spatial scientists, professional engineers, planners, geologists, environmental scientists, and skilled technicians/technologists to coordinate and implement a wide variety of project solutions and goals.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Preparation and delivery of GIS figures.
2. Gather, compile, migrate and convert data sets for project needs from a variety of internal and external sources.
3. Evaluate data from multiple sources to determine the quality and ensure data is clean and accurate.
4. Champion GIS Solutions for the local office for both data collection and delivery.
5. Creating, publishing, and maintaining web-based applications and feature services on ArcGIS Enterprise.
6. Setting up Field Map and Survey123 applications for team member site visits.
7. Provide technical support requests with regard to spatial software solutions for internal and external clients.
8. Explain technical concepts to others including more junior colleagues and clients.
9. Prepare or supervise the preparation of presentations and present information to internal and external groups.
10. Provide updates to project managers/directors in terms of the progress of tasks in line with programmes.
11. Managing the production of analysis and associated outputs, ensuring outputs are delivered on time and to an excellent standard.
12. Provide direction and technical advice to junior project team members, taking a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential.
13. Support others in leading the delivery of projects or acting as subject area lead within a multidisciplinary team.
14. Support others in maintaining client contact and ensure that project delivery meets the client’s objectives and requirements.
15. Ensuring that the technical content of all work carried out is correct and completed in accordance within agreed timescales, budgets and standards.
16. Undertake project delivery tasks, which may include calculations, drawings, sketches and reports.
17. Provide technical guidance, support and training to colleagues and assist, where practicable, in mentoring and development of others.
18. Work in close collaboration with colleagues from other subject areas.
Recommended Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
19. A suitable degree or higher (or studying towards) in Geographical Information Systems with 2-5 years relevant experience.
20. Proficiency with Esri GIS desktop software ArcMap 10.8.1 and/or ArcGIS Pro 3.0.2.
21. Experience with ArcGIS Online and/or Portal environment.
22. Experience in data conversion, database management, and GIS digitisation and analysis.
23. Experience in AutoCAD.
24. An understanding of the definition, projection, and application of different coordinate systems for both vector and raster datasets in ArcGIS.
25. Capability to produce high quality cartographic products.
26. Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office Suite.
27. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
28. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
29. Self-motivated while working independently.
30. Project a professional image to clients and colleagues.
31. Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
32. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
