Overview
Deputy Ward Nurse Manager - Ward 9 Broadgreen Hospital. Band 6. An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Ward Nurse Manager on Ward 9 Broadgreen. The role involves supporting the Ward Nurse Manager in her absence and maintaining high quality patient standards on the ward.
The post holder will work without direct supervision and will take charge of the Ward/Department in the absence of the Ward/Department Manager, who holds continuing responsibility.
Responsibilities
* Development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, effective leadership and staff management/development.
* Provide visible and effective leadership and management.
* Display a positive and professional attitude; promote and monitor safe and effective practice.
* Support a focus on quality within all areas of the ward.
* Contribute to the delivery of the organisation\'s objectives.
* Coordinate the Ward/Department on a day-to-day basis including planning, allocation and evaluation of work carried out by teams or individuals.
* Provide specialist knowledge to all nursing staff on the Ward/Department and promote a critical, analytical approach to the delivery of nursing care.
* Assist in the review and update of procedures and protocols relating to patient care; develop methods for identifying, maintaining and improving quality of patient care through facilitation of best practice and clinical benchmarking.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Registered nurse with current NMC registration; able to act on own initiative within agreed guidelines.
* Experience at Band 5 or Band 6 with the ability to work independently within guidelines and under the direction of Ward Manager and Clinical Matron.
* Ability to operate without direct supervision and to lead in the Ward/Department during absence of the Manager.
* Commitment to upholding the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
