Prestons Coffee House is opening an exciting new location in Bolton, and we are searching for an experienced, passionate, and entrepreneurial Head Barista / Coffee Shop Lead to take full ownership of the shop's daily operations and coffee program.

Key Responsibilities & Leadership
Operational Management:
Oversee all daily opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, till reconciliation, and stock rotation.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and schedule all barista staff, fostering a culture of excellence and customer focus.
Quality Control:
Maintain the highest standards of preparation, consistency, and hygiene across the entire shop.
Customer Experience:
Cultivate a warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable environment, building customer loyalty and handling all service issues.
The Product: Your Required Coffee Expertise
We require a candidate with deep, demonstrable knowledge across the full spectrum of specialty coffee.
1. Coffee Bean Expertise
You must be able to confidently discuss, taste, and train staff on the following:

| Species | Key differences between Arabica (complex, acidic, floral) and Robusta (bold, bitter, high caffeine) and how they influence blends. |
| Processing | The flavour impact of Washed (clean, bright), Natural (fruity, winey), and Honey (balanced, sweet) methods. |
| Origin & Flavour | Understanding regional profiles (e.g., African floral notes vs. South American nutty/chocolate notes).
| Equipment | Expertly dialling-in espresso shots daily (grind, dose, yield, and time), and routine maintenance of espresso machines and grinders.
2. Drink Mastery (Hot & Cold)
You must demonstrate mastery of classic espresso ratios, milk texturing (including non-dairy alternatives), and drink presentation, including:
Hot Drinks: Perfecting the ratios and techniques for Espresso, Americano, Macchiato, Cortado, Flat White, Latte, and Cappuccino (including advanced latte art).
Cold Drinks: Preparing high-quality Iced Lattes, Iced Shaken Espresso (with foam), Cold Brew (knowing concentration and dilution), and blended drinks (Frappés).
Requirements
Proven Experience (2+ years) as a Senior Barista or in a supervisory/management role within a specialty coffee shop.
Expert-level knowledge of the coffee production process, flavour theory, and advanced milk steaming/latte art techniques.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage staff, scheduling, and inventory.
Valid Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one immediately).
Must be eligible to work in the UK and able to commit to flexible hours, including weekends.
