We are seeking an innovative and energetic Child Psychotherapist to join our expanding Under 5’s Provision. The postholder will be part of the newly formed 0-5 BEH CAMHS team, undertaking complex specialist assessments, formulating treatment plans, managing risks, providing specialist interventions, and offering teaching and consultation to partner agencies.
The role involves delivering a high-quality, evidence-based Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic service to children under 5, their families, carers, and professional networks. Responsibilities include assessment, therapy, and providing specialist advice regarding diagnoses and treatment to CAMHS colleagues and external agencies, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the team's policies.
Key duties include:
1. Formulating and implementing treatment and management plans for children's mental health, based on appropriate conceptual frameworks and employing evidence-based methods across various care settings, in consultation with the multidisciplinary team.
2. Reflecting on assessments and treatment formulations, adjusting them as necessary, and maintaining multiple provisional hypotheses.
3. Implementing a range of Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic interventions for children and families, in collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Service Lead.
4. Providing assessment and discharge care planning for families of young children and infants, following local protocols and rota arrangements.
5. Evaluating and making treatment decisions considering complex factors related to the child's developmental history and family context.
