The Chandler Club at The Ascot District Day Centre Trust is a registered charity (number that offers the elderly residents of Sunninghill, Ascot and Sunningdale a social environment where they can meet and make new friends, enjoy the company of others and home-cooked food and beverages. The main duties and responsibilities of the post and are noted below:
· Support and assist the cook(s)
· Provide cover for holidays and sickness as appropriate
· Assist with ordering food supplies
· Keep health and safety / food hygiene safety records daily.
· Temperature probe fridge and freezers
· Assist with weekly menu setting.
· Collaborate with your colleagues to prepare meals.
· Carry out tasks as set by centre manager
· Prepare and measure ingredients for cooking main meals and desserts (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc)
· Check food whilst cooking (stir or turn)
· Serving food, ensuring that meals are of the highest possible quality and attractively presented.
· Assist with teas and coffees
· Ensure dining crockery and cutlery etc is washed thoroughly and put away.
· Washing kitchen floor daily
· Assisting elsewhere in the day centre as and when required
· Generally keeping a sanitised and orderly environment in the kitchen
Skills and Attributes
· Experience of cooking in a commercial kitchen setting is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided as required.
· Level 2 food hygiene certificate desirable but up to date training will be provided.
· Knowledge of safer food better business system
· Excellent communication skills
· Team player
· Ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands and prioritise tasks.
· Ability to work on own initiative.
· Satisfactory DBS
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.50-£13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 per week
