The newly appointed candidate will be working in a committed, successful, and experienced team that regularly achieves strong academic results. Technical support is excellent, and the department is passionate about providing high-standard practical activities across all Key Stages, including an externally sourced genetics project at KS5. Sharing good practice is embedded in our department ethos, and the successful candidate can expect ongoing support and high levels of communication.
In 2025, our progress measure for Biology was +0.7, a level of achievement that has been consistent over several years. Recently, we have invested heavily in our IT facilities, with all teachers benefiting from a modern SMARTboard and a personal laptop. The Biology team are passionate practitioners who enhance the curriculum through various extracurricular activities, including field trips and guest lectures. We have an impressive record of success in national competitions, achieving gold awards in the British Olympiad for Biology.
This post would suit an application from an early-career teacher who would benefit from strong mentoring, or an experienced teacher looking to develop their skills in a new setting. The successful candidate must be able to teach across all age ranges and abilities. The ability to teach another subject would be desirable but not essential.
