Job Summary
We are looking for someone with experience of managing commercial operations at a visitor-facing venue and/or someone with management experience within a food or catering venue.
This is a brand-new role at The World of Glass, and there are significant opportunities for someone who is eager to create significant change within an important regional visitor destination.
The World of Glass (TWOG) has been a visitor attraction in St Helens for nearly 25 years. It was opened in March 2000 as a groundbreaking Millennium project. On top of housing nationally significant glass collections and St Helens Council's social and industrial history collection, the museum is also home to the town's library, community spaces, galleries, meeting rooms, a café, shop and live glass blowing demonstrations. The site also includes one of the finest examples of a regenerative furnace in England, the Grade II* listed Tank House No. 9, a Scheduled Monument.
The World of Glass welcomed over 90K visitors last year, and we have an opportunity to target these increased visitors by supplying high quality and targeted shopping and food experiences, bespoke glass workshops and demonstrations and events and activities that create an increased income stream.
The priority for the first 6 months of the role will be to create a new joint café / shop space, with a brand-new offer for our visitors.
We are looking for someone who will work as a leader within our busy operational team. The Commercial Operations Manager will play a crucial role in leading the day-to-day commercial operations across The World of Glass. This individual is responsible for ensuring a high-quality, welcoming experience for visitors, while maximising revenue generation from retail, catering, events, and other commercial activities.
