# Mental Health Support Worker## Job Introduction## About the RoleYou will be part of a close-knit, multi-disciplinary team working in a secure, therapeutic environment. Your role will be to implement a detailed Individual Behaviour Support Plan (IBSP), ensuring the young person’s safety, wellbeing and personal development. This is a highly specialised role, requiring consistency, emotional intelligence and a strong commitment to trauma-informed practice. ## Key Responsibilities* Provide direct care and supervision in line with Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)* Build a trusting, professional relationship with the young person, offering emotional coaching and acting as a positive role model* Implement behaviour support strategies and risk assessments with precision and consistency* Proactively de-escalate crises using techniques such as distraction, diversion and offering choices* Use physical intervention (PMVA) only as a last resort, ensuring it is the least restrictive and always in the young person’s best interests* Supporting young people by engaging in their interests* Maintain accurate records and incident reports* Participate in handovers, team meetings, supervision and reflective practice* Collaborate with professionals across CAMHS, social work and education### Essential Experience:* Minimum 2 years’ recent experience in a Children’s Residential setting* Proven experience supporting young people with severe self-harming behaviours and trauma-related challenges* Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (Ofsted, CQC) and relevant legislation (Children’s Act 1989)* Strong report writing and record-keeping skills### Essential Skills & Knowledge:* Excellent communication and de-escalation skills* Understanding of attachment theory and developmental trauma* Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure* Strong team-working and multi-agency collaboration skills* High levels of resilience, patience and ethical integrity### Essential Qualifications:* Current PMVA certification with understanding of least restrictive principles* Up-to-date safeguarding training### Desirable Training (or Provided):* Self-harm and suicidal ideation support* Ligature training* Trauma-informed practiceIf you are passionate about making a lasting impact in a young person’s life and have the experience and heart to match, we would love to hear from you.### Mental Health Support Worker* **Salary** 16.00 - 18.00* **Frequency** Hourly* **Job Reference** bleep360groupcareers/TP/107/199* **Contract Type** Flexible/bank* **Closing Date** 18 October, 2025* **Job Category** Support Workers* **Business Unit** Bleep 360 Care* **Location** tamworth, United Kingdom* **Posted on** 18 September, 2025
