Field Service Engineer – Heavy Plant / Earthmoving Machinery
Location: Biggleswade / Southern & Eastern England Patch
Salary: Up to £20.04 per hour DOE + Enhanced Overtime

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Field Service Engineer to join a leading manufacturer within the heavy plant and earthmoving machinery sector. This is a field-based role covering customer sites across a large Southern and Eastern England patch, including the East of England and areas extending west towards Southampton. The role will involve servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a range of heavy plant and earthmoving equipment on customer sites, at premises and occasionally from the depot when required.
This opportunity would suit someone from a heavy plant, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, HGV, powered access, material handling or similar mechanical engineering background who is confident working independently and enjoys fault-finding on large machinery.
The Role
* Carrying out service, maintenance, inspection and repair work on heavy plant and earthmoving machinery
* Diagnosing faults across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and diesel engine systems
* Attending customer sites across a regional field service patch
* Completing job reports, service records and warranty paperwork accurately and on time
* Liaising with customers professionally and ensuring a high standard of service
* Working closely with depot support teams, parts teams and technical support
* Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with manufacturer standards
* Maintaining clean, safe and professional working conditions on customer sites
The Candidate
* Experience as a Field Service Engineer, Plant Fitter, Mobile Plant Engineer, Workshop Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, HGV Technician or similar
* A background working on heavy plant, earthmoving machinery, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, HGVs or similar equipment
* Strong mechanical knowledge, ideally with hydraulics, electrics and diesel engines
* Good diagnostic and fault-finding ability
* A recognised apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification would be beneficial
* A flexible approach to travel across a regional patch
* Full UK driving licence
The Package
* Hourly rate up to £20.04 per hour, depending on experience
* Enhanced overtime: x1.5 for the first 4 hours, x2 thereafter
